WEEKLY BULLETIN

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time:

June 27, 2010

**This is the last bulletin until September 4/5.**

I have been dealing with a lot of last things in the parish in the past month. Today, I am writing my last pastor’s message for this parish. Talk about pressure!

I have been asked recently what my greatest joy has been in this parish. After some reflection I discovered that my greatest joy has been celebrating the mass with all of you. To be able to share my love and relationship with Jesus Christ and to have you share your experience of our Savior has brought me a great sense of satisfaction.

The action of God is not a one-time event. For all eternity, Jesus gives himself to us and we celebrate that self-abandonment of Jesus to His Father for the sake of the world at every mass. This is the mystical union Jesus has offered us. We are united with God and with each other through Him.

How I have relished these masses with you. There have been times in which I could explain to all of you what makes my own heart leap with joy. I LOVE talking about Jesus and His church. This energizes me and gives me a sense of my own priestly calling. In my homilies to you, I have simply expressed what has impacted me when I read the scriptures. All of this has occurred during the mass.

When I am no longer your pastor in an official sense, I will always have you in my heart. This parish has revealed to me the face of God and all of you are that face for me. The mass that has brought me joy in this parish is the same mass that will sustain and remind me of all of you.

When I celebrate in Rome, because it is the same Jesus in that mass, we will be mystically united through Him. We are forever united.

Treat the next pastor as kindly as you have treated me. He comes with the same love of Christ as I have. He desires to make Jesus present to you as I have also striven to do. You will be learning to love each other in Christ as I have learned to love you in Christ. Be patient with him as you have been patient with my particularities. In this time of transition, you will discover Christ in each other. Look for Jesus and see His love that unites us. Discover the gift of the mass and the eternal sacrifice of our Savior. This will show you how to sacrifice yourself. Fr. Andrew Bogdanowicz and Fr. Eduardo Santos have given themselves to Christ for your sake. Do the same for them. In all this, remember to PRAISE THE LORD ALWAYS!!!

I have been working to create a booklet that describes the stained glass windows in the parish. This booklet is finally available for parishioners to purchase. You are invited to purchase one (or two, or three, or …) for the cost of $5.00 per booklet. They may be bought at the entrance of the church after each mass this weekend.

A MESSAGE FROM EDMONTON CATHOLIC SCHOOLS: As we near the end of the 2009-2010 school year, I would like to thank all those individuals who support the staff of Edmonton Catholic Schools in providing Catholic education to over 33,000 students across the City of Edmonton. The commitment and support of parents, parish priests, parish pastoral teams and other parish members truly helps to solidify the home-school-parish relationship, and enhances our children’s ability to grow to their potential. May you continue to feel God’s presence in your life as you enjoy the beauty, warmth and restful periods that the summer season brings. Joan Carr Superintendent, Edmonton Catholic Schools

STEWARDSHIP MOMENT: “No one who puts a hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” It is not easy to be a disciple in Jesus. For anyone who claims to be a disciple of Jesus, stewardship is not an option. Developing the virtues of prayer, gratitude, perseverance, humility, mercy, generosity, trust, simplicity, responsibility and patience helps, and makes it easier for us.
