Our parish is filled with activities. You will note, in our parish directory, many different areas in which volunteers help us. We are grateful for their support.

ACOLYTES
Acolyte is a liturgical ministry in which the individual scheduled for a particular mass ensures that everything is prepared for the celebration. S/he assists the Presider. (age 16 and over)

ADULT FAITH EDUCATION
To increase knowledge of our faith through study and prayer.

ALTAR SERVERS
Assists the priest and Acolyte during Mass and special celebrations and is open to boys and girls age 8 and over.

BAPTISM PREPARATION
To assist parents and Godparents in preparing for the baptism of their child or Godchild by increasing their awareness of the sacramental gifts and symbols, the Baptismal rite, and their role in the faith development of the child.

CATECHISM
We provide catechism instruction for children who attend grades 1 to 9 in the public system; to help parents help their children in the sacramental preparations of Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation; to provide a support group for parents and children that will enrich their involvement in the Eucharist and parish community; and to help teachers to grow in a deeper understanding of the Catholic Canadian Catechism and to provide an opportunity for them to develop further in their own personal spirituality.

CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE
The CWL plans, develops and coordinates programs directed towards the individual and collective spiritual development of our members in support of parish, community, religious and charitable activities.

CHILDREN'S CELEBRATION OF THE WORD
We welcome children (age 4-6) as part of the church through their own Sunday celebrations where God's Word is read, explained and discussed on their level. The Word is celebrated in a setting which parallels the regular mass in important aspects such as a Gospel reading, homily with discussion, intercessions and an activity to reinforce the message.

CHURCH CLEANING/DUST ANGELS
This group meets on Monday mornings to help with vacuuming, light dusting, etc. New volunteers are always welcome.

CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN (C.I.C.)
A program for children (7 to 15 yr.) who have not been baptized and are interested in joining the Catholic Church.

CLOTHING BANK
St. Thomas More volunteers collect and help distribute clothing to those in need in collaboration with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

COFFEE AFTER MASSES
Volunteers are asked to help prepare and serve coffee after all Masses to encourage parishioners to meet with each other.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Assist in distributing the Holy Eucharist. Open to those 18 years and over.

FINANCE COUNCIL
The finance council plans the annual budget and meets approximately four or five times a year to discuss the on-going parish finances.

FLORAL DESIGNER
Arranges and maintains the floral enhancements to our worship space. Volunteers to assist are always welcome.

FUNERAL LUNCHES
Volunteers prepare and serve at receptions following funeral Masses/Services.

FOOD BANK
Organizes collections for the Edmonton Food Bank, (including "reverse" collections at Masses throughout the year).

FUNERAL TEAM
Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors who have very flexible hours to help at funeral Masses.

GREETERS
Greeters provide a friendly welcome, a smile and hello to all entering the church for the weekend Masses. This ministry is open to all parishioners, youth to seniors, individuals or families.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
A Catholic, family, fraternal organization for men age 18 and over which provides members with the opportunity to grow spiritually through various activities, and to serve church and country.

LADIES'AUXILIARY
To provide ladies of the parish with an opportunity to meet weekly to socialize, to give support to each other and to work on projects that will benefit the church and community locally, nationally and internationally.

LECTORS (Readers)
Lectoring is a liturgical ministry in which the individual scheduled for a particular Mass proclaims the Word of God to the gathered community.

LEGION OF MARY
Parishioners actively engaged in the Lay Apostolate according to the needs of the parish and under direction of the Pastor. This Apostolate is under the patronage and guidance of the Holy Spirit and our Blessed Mother and, therefore, we strive to deepen our devotion to them.

LITURGY COMMITTEE
The Liturgy Committee plans and coordinates all aspects of the parish liturgical celebrations so that they will be meaningful, uplifting, prayerful and visually and audibly appealing.

MAINTENANCE & GROUNDS
Volunteers are welcome to assist in maintaining church property (gardening, cutting grass, shoveling snow and general maintenance of church property).

MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE
This ministry invites married couples to help prepare engaged couples for marriage.

MUSIC/CHOIR
Helps to enrich all parish celebrations and open to all ages.

PASTORAL COUNCIL
This council of parishioners along with the Pastor meet once a month to discuss the pastoral life of the parish.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (R.C.I.A.)
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) team prepares those who are interested in joining the Catholic Church, or acting as sponsors or Catechists.

SACRED ART & DESIGN
A committee mandated to complete the sanctuary and future liturgical art enhancements of our worship space.

SACRISTAN
Sacristans wash and dry all the Mass vessels, wipe the counters in the sacristy, and wash and iron Mass linens.

SCRIPTURE STUDY (ADULT)
Meets Wednesday mornings to further develop Faith life through study and prayer.

SICK & SHUT-INS
Volunteers who visit and bring the Eucharist to those members of our community unable to attend Mass on a regular basis due to illness etc.

SOCIAL JUSTICE/HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
To educate the parish on social issues and advise on how to respond to these and coordinate action plans. The Habitat for Humanity Project is a special project Social Justice is supporting along with the parishes of St. Agnes and St. Anthony.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
Parishioners combining personal spiritual growth with active charity to the less fortunate which includes home visiting.

USHERS
Ushers informally welcome people into the church building where the Eucharist will be celebrated, assist them in finding a seat if the church is crowded, take up the collection, choose people to bring up the gifts, tidy up the church in preparation for the next Mass, etc. For men and women, 16 and over.

WEDDING REHEARSAL TEAM
We guide the couples, friends and families through the wedding ceremony. We are also attending the actual wedding, helping where needed, or just being a friendly face.

WELCOMING COMMITTEE
To give a personal welcome by phone (or by visit, if possible) to new parishioners.
